World Oceans Day #protectourhome

World Oceans Day is an important day for us here at Green&Blue. Being based in the seaside town of Perranporth, Cornwall, we are deeply connected to the ocean and spending our time near, on, and indeed in, it. As a team, we paddleboard; surf; swim; take our children to surf clubs; coasteer; walk; enjoy!

In 2019 we became a business supporter of Surfers Against Sewage via their 250 Club scheme, supporting their work to protect the UK's unique coastal environment, and as often as we can we join in with beach cleans, as well as organising our own community litter picks.

In 2020, World Oceans Day focusses on 30x30, a global drive to protect at least 30% of the land and ocean by the year 2030. If you'd like to help and support you can sign the 30×30 petition for our blue planet here.

“We are delighted by the number of global events taking place this year,” said Jeff Demain, World Oceans Day Manager. “The range of online actions is compelling. Where safe, there are also a number of beach cleanups around the globe. The key conservation message of protecting 30% of our land and ocean by 2030 is being carried far and wide in this year’s network.”

With a special emphasis on digital due to the current crisis, there's never been an easier time to get involved and join in with World Oceans Day, on social media using hashtags of #WorldOceansDay and #ProtectOurHome or by visiting the World Oceans day website. You can also follow @WorldOceansDay on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

We'd love to know how you're getting involved in World Oceans Day 2020, just let us know in the comments below.
